"Moms United to End the War on Drugs" Overdose Awareness day ACTION!

National Overdose Awareness Day
Performance Art meets Political ACTION!
Wednesday August 31, 2011 *Hollywood!*

To celebrate life and bring awareness to the lives lost by accidental overdose the Los Angeles chapter of A New PATH will be holding a "performance art" happening; "ROCK LIFE! Prevent accidental overdose!"

Please join us, bring signs and participate!  We will be meeting a few steps from world famous Grauman's Chinese theater and the walk of fame stars of Michael Jackson and The Doors. We will be staging a "Die In" to bring awareness to those lost through accidental overdose.

At exactly 1pm The LA chapter of A New PATH (Parents for Addiction Treatment and Healing), the Drug Policy Alliance as well as members of other local advocacy groups will "Die" and remain “dead” on the ground for a number of minutes while the names of those lost are read...

WE DEMAND:
  • That 911 ‘Good Samaritan” overdose legislation be passed at both the state and federal level!
  • That overdose victims be treated with dignity and humanity.
  • That stigma be eliminated by treating drug overdoses like any other medical emergency

Please wear a tee shirt and fasten (or print) a picture of an overdose victim you will be representing. Be aware we have lost many talented performers in the last few years to tragic accidental overdose. Come as Elvis, Amy Winehouse, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson or a personal loved one lost to overdose!

See you at the street level entrance of the Metrolink Hollywood/Highland station at 12:20! Join us at we commemorate OVERDOSE AWARENESS DAY with our "die -In" and "ROCK LIFE!"
